Edgewood Alley Green
Edgewood Alley Green (EAG) is dedicated to creating green space that promotes inclusive, safe, and healthy recreational opportunities for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of the community.
Located in the Edgewood neighborhood in Northeast Washington D.C, EAG centers on the alley bounded by Bryant Street NE to the south, Channing Street NE to the north, 3rd Street NE to the west, and 4th Street NE to the east.
This space has a long history as a gathering place for the community, but has not always been well maintained. As the neighborhood evolves, EAG will care for the green space while continuing the community tradition and fostering activities that serve the neighborhood’s residents.
In early 2020 the City brought several departments to the alley to remove abandoned cars, clean up discarded waste and bulk trash, and pave the roadways. This action was an inflection point for the community to embrace the natural amenities provided by the space. When the COVID-19 public health emergency started, and people were forced to be home, neighbors organized even more clean-ups. Overgrown weeds were removed, swings were hung, and new friendships were formed.
This project is evolving and we hope you will join us for a future event, or just to say hello.
