Columbia Heights Civic Plaza
Supported by Civic Plaza Partners
WHERE: 14th Street NW, between Kenyon Street NW and Park Road NW in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC
WHAT: The Columbia Heights Civic Plaza is a hub of community activity that includes a farmer’s market, holiday tree lighting and children’s theater. Its outdoor café seating and benches ensure it is a vibrant gathering space in the neighborhood.
Civic Plaza Partners (CPP) is a non-profit organization created to support the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza. CPP is a “park partner” with DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), working to assist DPR with maintenance, fundraising, and programming for the space. CPP also provides the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza with a community voice to DPR and communicates information to the public about relevant issues, such as activity permits for the space, program and activities, and engaging with city agencies.
WHO: Members of Civic Plaza Partners include organizations such as Columbia Heights initiative, Gala Theater, Kenyon Square Condo Association, Community Food Works, and more.
HOW GREEN SPACES FOR DC SUPPORTS CPP: CPP is a project of Green Spaces for DC. As fiscal sponsor, Green Spaces for DC maintains CPP's 501(c)(3) charitable status, provides accounting and fiscal oversight services, and assists with organizational development and fundraising.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Donate to support Civic Plaza Partners in maintaining and enhancing the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza. Current needs include maintaining and repairing the plaza’s fountain, solar panels, public art, landscape terraces and seating, and paving.
